Crystal Palace have announced today the signing of former Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini on a free transfer as Alan Pardew looks to assemble a side capable of breaking them out of the rut they have found themselves in over the last few months.
The Frenchman joins Loic Remy, Christian Benteke, Andros Townsend, Steve Mandanda and James Tomkins as the incomings this season and it looks as though he’s been acquired as a replacement for Mile Jedinak, who left for Aston Villa earlier in the summer.
It could prove to be a solid signing for the south London side. Flamini has experience at the highest level with not only the Gunners but AC Milan too, as well as a handful of appearances for the French national team – so he clearly knows what it takes to step up.
That’s the level Palace want to be aiming for under Alan Pardew this season, despite their slow start, and judging by the reaction of the Eagles’ fans on Twitter, they’re more than happy with this deal.
