da bet vitoria: The fall of Manchester United’s Jesse Lingard has been rather spectacular.
da betobet: Less than two years ago, the 27-year-old started all but two of England’s matches at the 2018 World Cup as the Three Lions made the semi-finals. That came after he scored 13 goals and provided seven assists in all competitions during the 2017/18 campaign.

However, this term, he has started just nine matches in the Premier League under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, losing his status as one of the squad’s key members. His most recent Transfermarkt valuation – updated earlier this month – reflects his decline.
Valued at £36m from July 2018 until June 2019 last year, that number now stands at just £19.8m, meaning he has lost 45% of his value during that time.
Here are three reasons to explain that dip…
Dropped from the England squad
As mentioned before, there was a time when Lingard was an important player for Gareth Southgate – in Russia, he even scored once and provided two assists during his country’s impressive run, which will be remembered for years to come.
Since then, though, the former Birmingham City loanee’s status has continued to dwindle.
He did start the very next match after that tournament, against Spain in the UEFA Nations League, but he was not in the first XI against Switzerland in the next clash. He was in and out of the squads after that and, although he did start both of the Nations League finals matches, that was to prove to be his last call-up – he has not been in a squad since June 2019.
His failure to perform at the highest level appears to have been a problem for Southgate. As England look to climb to the very top of the game, Lingard looks to have been left behind.
Poor 2019/20 form
Lingard has still featured regularly for United this term – he has played 35 times – but his return during that period has been nothing short of dreadful. He has managed to contribute just two goals and two assists – during 2019, he failed to produce any of either in the Premier League.
Others stats also reflect how poor he has been. He has won just 37% of his duels in the league, also giving away 1.4 fouls per match. It is no coincidence that his playing time has dwindled throughout the campaign – he has played just 81 minutes of league football in 2020.
Bruno Fernandes’ arrival
January was a relatively busy transfer window for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co at United. They brought in two new faces, but Bruno Fernandes was by far the biggest name to make the switch – he cost the club £47m, joining from Sporting Lisbon.
Even in such a short amount of time, the 25-year-old has made a big impact – United have not lost since he arrived, and he has scored three goals and provided four assists since making the move.
As an attacking midfielder, his purchase is not good news for Lingard – he has played 19 times in that role so far this term. Clearly, the new recruit has already pushed him down the pecking order – the Englishman has not been included in any of the last four Premier League squads.
